Prajasattak Din Speech in English: Today, I feel honored to stand before you to talk about a very special and significant day in the history of our country—Republic Day, also known as Prajasattak Din in Marathi. This day is not just a public holiday; it is a celebration of the spirit of democracy, the strength of our Constitution, and the vision of our great leaders who laid the foundation of modern India.
On the 26th of January, 1950, India took a bold and historic step by adopting its Constitution. This marked the beginning of a new era where the people of India were given the power to choose their leaders, govern themselves, and shape their future. It was on this day that India became a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic, promising equality, justice, and liberty to all its citizens.
Friends, Republic Day is not just a reminder of the birth of our Constitution, but it is also a day to pay tribute to the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters. These brave souls dreamt of an India free from the chains of British rule. Leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Subhas Chandra Bose, Jawaharlal Nehru, and many others fought with courage and determination, ensuring that we could live in a free and democratic nation today.
Our Constitution, often called the soul of our democracy, was meticulously crafted by the drafting committee under the leadership of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. It is one of the longest and most comprehensive constitutions in the world, emphasizing values like equality, justice, and fraternity. The Constitution guarantees fundamental rights to every citizen, protecting our freedom of speech, religion, and education. It teaches us the importance of being united despite our diversity.
As we celebrate Republic Day, let us remember that the true essence of this day lies in the responsibilities that come with our rights. Our Constitution gives us the freedom to express ourselves, but it also asks us to respect the opinions of others. The grand parade in New Delhi at Rajpath, now called Kartavya Path, showcases India’s military strength, cultural diversity, and achievements in various fields. It is a proud moment when the world witnesses the unity and vibrancy of our nation.
Dear friends, as young citizens of India, it is our responsibility to uphold the ideals of our Constitution. Let us pledge to be honest, compassionate, and hardworking individuals. Let us respect our diversity and work together to build a nation that stands for peace, progress, and prosperity. Republic Day is a reminder that we hold the future of India in our hands.
